Charmaine Sheh as Princess Cheung Ping | Princess Truong Binh

Character bio: Cheung Ping | Truong Binh is said to be the sole survivor of the Ming | Minh dynasty. Because of this, she is famous and people call her "dai nui fa" | "de nu hoa" (lit. empress of flowers). Cheung Ping | Truong Binh is said to have been a very nice and sweet girl and everyone liked her. When the Manchurians invaded the capital, she was saved and hid in a nunnery. She became a nun to hide from the Manchurians. She has a deep and passionate love with Chow Sai Hin | Chau The Hien. The two were lovers ever since they were little. They met again and again, each time growing more deeply in love. But, they are often split apart. In the end, Cheung Ping | Truong Binh drinks poison with Sai Hin | The Hien under the cherry tree. She dies for her fallen empire. (More info later)

Steven Ma as Chow Sai Hin | Chau The Hien

Character bio: Scholary, bright, and gifted, Chow Sai Hin | Chau The Hien is the true love of the fair Princess Cheung Ping | Princess Truong Binh. He worked on gunpowder and cannons and fought in wars against the invading Manchurians. (More info later)

Moses Chan as Emperor Chongzhen | Emperor Sung Trinh

Character bio: Emperor Chongzhen | Emperor Sung Trinh is the last emperor of the Ming | Minh dynasty. Because of his infatuation with Chan Yuen Yuen | Tran Vien Vien, he lost his empire. When his dynasty fell, he went crazy and forced all of his concubines to kill themselves by drinking poison. In the end, he hanged himself and died. (More info later)

Maggie Siu as Empress Zhou | Empress Chau

Character bio: The kind-hearted Empress Zhou | Empress Chau is the mother of Cheung Ping | Truong Binh and Chiu Yan | Trieu Nhan. She is the loving wife of Emperor Chongzhen. Her kindness is often taken advantaged of and not appreciated. She is hated by Tin Fei | Dien Phi and is tortured and wrongfully accussed many times. (More info later)

Sonija Kwok as Princess Chiu Yan | Princess Trieu Nhan

Character bio: Chiu Yan | Trieu Nhan is the sister of Cheung Ping | Truong Binh and is very jealous of her. She is angry that everyone loves Cheung Ping | Truong Binh and plots against her. She follows Tin Fei | Dien Phi because she sees that she is a good rolemodel for her since Tin Fei | Dien Phi has a lot of power. Chiu Yan | Trieu Nhan's heart is bitter and full of evil. Because of her, Empress Zhou | Empress Chau (her mother) is tortued by Tin Fei | Dien Phi and Cheung Ping | Truong Binh (her sister) suffers. Chiu Yan | Trieu Nhan is very selfish and she loves Sai Hin | The Hien, but he only loves Cheung Ping | Truong Binh, which gets her very mad... (More info later)

Character bio: The evil and wicked Tin Fei | Dien Phi is quick to torture the Empress Zhou | Empress Chau. Chiu Yan | Trieu Nhan looks upon her as a mother because Tin Fei | Dien Phi has a lot of power in the palace. She is very evil and cold-hearted and tortures Empress Zhou | Empress Chau as much as she can. She kills Lee Yuk Han | Lee Ngoc Nhan...(More info later)

Anne Heung as Chan Yuen Yuen | Tran Vien Vien

Character bio: Chan Yuen Yuen | Tran Vien Vien is said to be (one) of the most beautiful women in ancient China, she is often referred to as the cause of the fall of the Ming | Minh dynasty and she is also called a "slut" because she is invovled with three men: Ng Sam Gwai | Ngo Tam Que, Chongzhen | Sung Trinh, and Lee Chi Cheng | Ly Tu Thanh. Chan Yuen Yuen | Tran Vien Vien was given to Emperor Chongzhen | Emperor Sung Trinh. He was mesmerize by her beauty and spent mostly all of his time with her after she was given. Because of this, Lee Chi Cheng | Ly Tu Thanh was able to conquer the Ming | Minh dynasty and throw Chongzhen | Sung Trinh off the thrown. After he became emperor, he took Yuen Yuen | Vien Vien to become his concubine. This angered Ng Sam Gwai | Ngo Tam Que because Yuen Yuen | Vien Vien was his so he opened the doors of the capital to let the Manchurians in. They invaded the capital and conquered the Ming | Minh dynasty and started the Ching | Thanh dynasty. Yuen Yuen | Vien Vien was given back to Sam Gwai | Tam Que. Because of this, she was hated and thus became known as the "cause of the Ming | Minh dynasty." (More info later)

Marco Ngai as Ng Sam Gwai | Ngo Tam Que

Character bio: He is hated greatly by his fellow Han people because he sold out and let the Manchurians invade the capital. The opened the doors to the capital because he wanted to get back Chan Yuen Yuen | Tran Vien Vien. (More info later)

Annie Man as Lee Yuk Han | Ly Ngoc Nhan

Character bio: She is the daughter of a great general and is in love with Chow Sai Hin | Chau The Hien and the two were going to get married. But, Tin Fei | Dien Phi kills her. Chiu Yan | Trieu Nhan accidentally sees this and is forced to take care of Yuk Han's | Ngoc Nhan's body. However, Chiu Yan | Trieu Nhan accidentaly drops her body into the lake! As a result, she frames the murder of Lee Yuk Han | Ly Ngoc Nhan on Cheung Ping | Truong Binh!

Michael Tong as Chor Sing Hing

Character bio: A playful, carefree son of the owner of the cannon factory where Chow Sai Hin | Chau The Hien works as a secretary and designer, he is an expert on cannons but finds it hard to focus his efforts. When he meets Cheung Ping | Truong Binh, he becomes totally besotted with her and does everything he can to gain her attention, but when he realises she only loves his best friend Sai Hin | The Hien, he pledges that he will still do anything for her if only just to be with her. Outspoken, honorable and faithful.

Ellesmere Choi as ??

Character bio: He is one of the princes of the palace, but he is naive and cowardly. Looks to Cheung Ping | Truong Binh for help and support and is loved and spoiled by everyone in the palace. Although he is the son of the emperor, he is not crown prince material and accepts this.

Lee Chi Cheng | Ly Tu Thanh

Character bio: After he overtook Emperor Chongzhen | Emperor Sung Trinh, he became the new emperor of the Ming | Minh dynasty. However, his rule is shorted lived (less than a month) because Ng Sam Gwai | Ngo Tam Que opened the capital doors and let the Manchurians invade. (More info later)
